Privacy Policy

This is what Purple knows about you, why, who else sees it, and how to get it deleted. In plain words.
The short version
- We get your basic Telegram profile when you open Purple. We never get your phone number, your Telegram chats or your contacts.
- Your messages are kept so the chat works. Only you and the person you talk to see them. Posts you publish in the feed are public in Purple.
- Aura answers are never shown to anyone, not even to the person they are about.
- We don’t sell your data.
- You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The Purple team is responsible for your data in Purple (the data controller). Purple is in early access and is not a registered company yet: our company details will be listed here before Purple opens to everyone. Until then, write to legal@thepurple.app.
Questions about your data: support@thepurple.app. Legal questions: legal@thepurple.app.
2. What we get from Telegram
You open Purple inside Telegram, through @Purple_telegram_bot. When you do, Telegram passes us a signed message with:
- your Telegram user ID;
- your first name and username, if you have one;
- a link to your Telegram profile photo, if Telegram shares it;
- your Telegram language setting.
We use it to sign you in and to recognize the same account next time. Telegram does not give us your phone number, your Telegram chats or your contacts, and we don’t ask for them.
3. What you tell us when you join
- Nickname and avatar. Other people in Purple see them: in “Open with a hello”, in hellos and in chats.
- Your “I agree”. We keep a record that you accepted the terms, the rules and this policy, and when.
4. Hellos, chats, posts and messages
We store your hellos (who said hello to whom, and whether it was accepted), your chats and your messages on our servers. We need them to deliver messages and show your chat history.
- Only you and the person you talk to see your messages.
- Our team does not read chats as a routine. We may look at a chat when someone reports it, to keep people safe, or when the law requires it.
- Our bot sends you Telegram notes about new hellos and messages, with the other person’s nickname.
- Photos you send in a chat are made smaller on your phone first, which also removes the camera details and the place where the photo was taken. Before a photo is sent, it is checked automatically for nudity, sexual content and violence. For this check the photo goes to Anthropic, the company whose AI does it. If a photo doesn’t pass, it isn’t sent and isn’t kept.
- Posts. We store your posts with their photos, polls, quotes and scheduled times, and the hands they get. Everyone in Purple can see your published posts, with your nickname and avatar.
- Poll votes. We store which option you voted for, so each person votes once. Other people see only the totals.
- Reports. When you report a post, we store who reported it and when. The author doesn’t see who reported it.
- Review. Our team sees new posts to keep the feed safe. Photos in posts are checked the same way as photos in chats. We may also check posts automatically, including with AI.
- Hands. We store the hands you buy, sell, give and get, and who gave them to whom.
5. Aura
When you answer “how do you feel next to …?”, we store your answer, who it is about and when. Answers add up to each person’s aura.
- Aura is never shown. No one sees anyone’s aura, and you don’t see your own number either.
- The person never learns what you answered.
- We use aura only to choose who the app suggests to you and to others in “Open with a hello”, and to decide the order of posts in the feed.
6. Purple Token and tasks
- Balance and history. Your token balance and a record of every change to it: what you earned, for which task, and any corrections. This includes history from the earlier Purple app, where coins became tokens 1 to 1.
- Tasks. Which tasks you started, finished and claimed.
- Partners. When you do a partner task, for example an AdsGram ad or connecting Chaters, the partner tells us whether the task was done. To match it to you, the partner and we exchange an identifier for your account. The partner also collects data on its own side under its own privacy policy. We don’t see your profile or activity on the partner’s service.
- Earlier payouts. If you used payouts in the earlier Purple app, we keep the records of those payouts. Payouts are paused until the token exchange opens on March 31, 2027.
The token page shows the value of one token. It doesn’t show anyone’s personal data.
7. How you use the app
We record when you open the app, roughly how long it is open, what kind of device you use it on (for example iPhone, Android or desktop) and errors. We use this to keep Purple stable and secure, to spot extra accounts and automation, and to understand which parts people use.
8. Support
When you write to support, by email or in @Purple_helpcenter_bot, we keep the conversation. An AI assistant answers first and can see your Purple account to help you. A person from our team joins when needed. Support conversations may be used to improve answers and Purple.
9. Our website
On thepurple.site you choose which cookies to allow. Analytics and ad measurement from Google run only if you tap “Accept all”. If you apply for Purple Token news on the site, we keep your email to send you that news, and link it to your Purple account when you confirm in Telegram. You can unsubscribe from any email.
10. Why we may use your data
- To run Purple for you, under our Terms of Use: your account, hellos, chats, aura, tokens and tasks.
- Our legitimate interest in keeping Purple safe, fair and working: anti-fraud, security, stability and improving the app.
- Your consent, where we ask for it, such as website cookies and token news emails. You can take it back at any time.
- When the law requires it.
11. Who else sees your data
- Other people in Purple see your nickname and avatar, the messages you send them, and your posts.
- Telegram, because Purple runs inside it and our bot sends you notes through it.
- Partners such as AdsGram and Chaters, only what is needed to confirm a task.
- Service providers that host and run Purple for us: Hostinger provides the servers Purple runs on. Your data is stored on these servers in Lithuania, in the European Union.
- Anthropic checks the photos you send in chats and posts before they go out (see section 4).
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it for other companies’ advertising.
Some of these services may process data outside the European Economic Area. When they do, we use the safeguards the law requires.
12. How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. After your account is deleted, we keep its data (your profile, your messages, your posts, your aura answers, your token history and your conversations with support) on our servers and in backups for up to 6 months, and then erase it. During that time nobody in Purple sees it and we don’t share it with anyone. We may use it to improve Purple. We may keep some records longer if the law requires it, or to deal with fraud or a dispute.
13. Delete your account and your rights
To delete your account, write to support@thepurple.app or to @Purple_helpcenter_bot from the Telegram account you use in Purple. When your account is deleted, your profile and your posts no longer show to anyone, and the people you talked to can no longer read your messages. For 30 days you can ask us, the same way, to bring your account back: we will ask why you left and why you are returning, and your profile, chats and token balance return. After 30 days the account cannot be restored and its token balance is gone.
You can also ask us to:
- show you the data we have about you, or give you a copy;
- correct it;
- delete it, or limit how we use it;
- stop using it where we rely on our legitimate interest.
Write to support@thepurple.app. We may ask you to confirm it’s really you. If you think we handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live.
14. Age
Purple is for people aged 18 and older. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe someone under 18 is using Purple, please tell us at support@thepurple.app.
15. Keeping it safe
We protect your data with technical and organizational measures and limit who on our team can access it. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your Telegram account safe too. Purple staff never ask for passwords, Telegram login codes, seed phrases or prepayment.
16. Changes
We may update this policy as Purple changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app.
